Prof. Dr. Robert Marans of the University of Michigan, Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, was the guest of the Urban Research & Development Center between 20-28 March (sponsored by the Municipality of Gazimagusa and EMU). During his visit, Prof. Marans gave two lectures on "Alternative Career Paths For Architects: A Professional Autobiography" and " . In addition, as the advisor of the URDC'S ongoing TUBITAK project titled "Measuring the Quality of Urban Life in Famagusta", he worked with Prof. Dr. Derya Oktay, the project director, and gave a training seminar to the interviewers, the graduate students of the Faculty of Architecture and of the Faculty of Communication.
Lucien Kroll, the internationally renowned Belgian architect, was the guest of the URDC between 24-28 April (sponsored by the Chamber of Architects and EMU). He gave two lectures titled "Animal Urban Planning and Homoepathic Architecture" and "Order, Disorder, Counter-order". In addition, he answered the questions of the faculty regarding his philosophy of and approach to architectural design in an informal meeting organized by the Department of Architecture.
