CALL FOR ACTION: We are SDGs!

PROMOTION OF UN SDGs at EASTERN MEDDITERENEAN UNIVERSITY 

Introduction

This event titled 'CALL FOR ACTION: We are SDGs!' is organized as part of the final project of a graduate course of Master of Urban Design Programs (MS in UD & MUD) of Department of Architecture, run by Prof.Dr. Şebnem Hoşkara, who is also carrying out a Type C (BAP-C) scientific research project entitled 'Building internal capacity and ownership of the SDGs on EMU Campus' together with Research Assistant Moustapha Adam Lamine, a graduate student of MS in Architecture program. The event is also part of the action plan of this BAP-C Project, whose main aim is to raise awareness on SDGs within the University and also part of the ongoing efforts of EMU Urban Research and Development Center (URDC) on SDGs.

Aim of the Event

The aim of the event is to increase awareness and to promote the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) their specific targets among the students and the faculty within EMU. The event also intends:

o To educate both the students, the faculty, and the university authorities on the importance of the Sustainable Development Goals and suggest some ways to promote them in the university.

o Toincreaseandstrengthenthelevelofinteractionandsocialcoexistencebetweenstudents.
o Tostrengthenandincreaserelationbetweenstudentsofdifferentbackgrounds,cultureandethnicity.
o To inform the students and the audience on ways to establish partnership and collaborative planning in

achieving the SDGs.

Target Audience

The event will focus more on the leaders of the international student societies and student clubs of the university; these societies and clubs' leaders are the ones that have the responsibility of organizing events and activities which relates to the students of their respective society and clubs.
