A panel of speakers focusing on the concept of sustainability, one of the most diversely applied concepts among academics and professionals, discussing the future directions and implications which have cut across all disciplines and professions and has developed many complexities. The invited speakers of the  panel  included  pioneering  academics  and professionals in the field of urban planning and architecture in Turkey.  All the papers relate to the meaning of sustainability in urban environments, the prospects for the future of cities in the century as well as urban identity, sustainability, planning education, and contemporary planning methods.
