The closing event of the Green Belt: Environmental Literacy for Sustainable Development Project, carried out by the Famagusta Cultural Association with financial support from the European Union, was held as the 'Environment and Ecology Festival' on Monday, November 4, 2024, at Desdemona Park in Famagusta Walled City.

As part of the festival, the EMU SDGs Club (Sustainable Development Goals Club) set up a booth to promote the United Nations Global Goals. Through this initiative, university students and festival participants came together to engage and share knowledge. The EMU Urban Research and Development Center (URDC) and the Sustainable Development Goals Club also organised an educational workshop for secondary school students. URDC Executive Board Members Assoc. Prof. Müge Riza and Assoc. Prof. Nevter Zafer Cömert and Özge Selen Koç, the club president, conducted this workshop. The workshop was well-received, and plans are underway to replicate it in various forms and locations in the future.
